Preschool Story Time
Books, games, activities, and a craft in this 40 minute program for kids ages 3 - 6 (not entering kindergarten) and their siblings.  Please register for each week separately as space is limited.

Presented by Tina Berchak and Co. for children ages 3 - 10, .  Three classmates from the WAWA (All Water All the time Network) will be teaching about the water cycle in a fun and entertaining way. Presented by kids for kids. Younger children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Traveling Tales of Water Pollution
Lisa Dunne, Watershed Ambassador for the Upper Delaware Watershed Region, will lead a 45 minute program for 6-6th graders, which includes an enjoyable story time and other hands-on activities that show how our water bodies are all connected and how pollution travels from our neighborhood all the way to the ocean.  Programs are limited to 30.

Art for the Fair
Did you ever dream of eyeing your work of art upon the walls and on the pillars in the Richard’s Building at the New Jersey State Fair?  Local artist and educator Lisa Hirkaler will help you prepare two pieces to enter into the NJ State Fair – a painting and a sculpture.   A $5 materials fee will be collected for each class. You may attend one class or all three classes.  For children ages 6 – 11.

Sign a Story
Educator Jessie Musilli will bring our picture book favorites alive not by word, but by signing.  Learn how to share children’s favorites such as Bill Martin’s Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar, using not only expression, but also sign language. You may sign up for all classes, or sign up individually. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Perrine and Davis with Mike Lawlor
The Friends welcome Debbie Davis with Matt Perrine, featuring local guitarist Mike Lawlor for an evening of American pop favorites. Debbie and Mike have performed globally and have recorded with greats Bruce Hornsby, Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt. They have also appeared on several episodes of HBO’s critically acclaimed TREME.  Most recently they both performed at Michael Arnone’s Crawfish Fest at the Sussex County Fairgrounds. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved into the library’s community room.

As You Like It                        
Banished by her cruel uncle, Rosalind must disguise herself as a boy and flee to the Forest of Arden. In this fairytale setting, surrounded by courtiers and fools, shepherds and outlaws, the plucky Rosalind becomes a catalyst for change, bringing about laughter, love, and reconciliation. This ever-popular Shakespeare comedy, As You Like It, is directed by Abigail Isaac, and presented by  New Jersey Shakespeare’s Next Stage Ensemble. Recommended for adults and children ages 8 and up.

What Should I Know Before I Bring Home A Pet
Dr. Costlow, owner of the Newton Veterinary Hospital, will present a discussion on What I Should Know Before I Bring Home a Pet and General Pet Knowlege.  This will be followed by a question and answer period.  Gather up your family and your questions and put Dr. Costlow to the test asking him anything and everything about pets. The program is limited to 50.

Fresh Water Fishing
Teen volunteer, John Michael Halbig will be presenting his 4H project on Fresh Water Fishing.  This will include info on how to fish, what kind of equipment to use, and fishing safety.  It will be followed by Ms. Diane who will present books about fishing.  The entire family is invited.

Explore Life in the Freshwater Lakes and Streams of Sussex County
Explore the diversity of life in the freshwater lakes and streams of Sussex County with Kate Foord of High Point State Park.  We will explore how water quality can be determined by organisms that live in the water and play a game that explores the process of insect development .  Kids can explore adaptations by creating their own "critter".

Barbara and J.B in Concert
The Friends’ welcome soprano Barbara Smith-Davis, bass J.B. Davis, and pianist extraordinaire Tom Booth for an evening of music including favorites from Richard Rodgers, Cole Porter, Neil Diamond as well as popular songs from Italy, France, Germany and Russia. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved into the library’s community room.
