Preschool Programs

Lap Sit Program! Books, songs, fingerplays, and more for ages 6 mos. – 2 years. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. About 30 minutes.  Each program is limited to 30 participants.

Be Creative Preschool Story Time! Art, music, and drama are only some of the fun things we‘ll be doing. Caregivers are encouraged to participate!  Programs are limited to 30 participants. For kids ages 3-5 (not entering kindergarten).

GOING BUGGY – complete

BOOKS ON ICE — Skylands Ice World Book Group! Kids who are in grades 4-6 are invited to meet on the second Wednesday of each month at Skylands Ice World from 6:15-7:15 PM for an activity and book discussion.  You can then skate for half-price from 7:30-8:30! Thank you Skylands Ice World! (This program will not run in July & August). Please pre-register.

Civil War Dioramas! Be Creative by learning about the Civil War and making a diorama about the event of your choice. Programs are limited to 12 participants. For kids entering grades 4 and above.

Bill and Ted’s Most Excellent Wool Adventures!  Learn to knit, from sheep to scarf, with friendly sheep Lucky.  For ages 10 and up.  Beginners to intermediate knitters welcome.  Knitting supplies provided by the Friends of the Library.

You are invited to play “Are You as Smart as a Cyber Bully?”   Learn how to protect yourself in a fun game show format hosted by Detective Dianne D. Rude from the Office of the Sussex County Prosecutor. For kids entering 6th grade and up, and their parents. Limited to 30 kids and adults.

American Girl Party: Chrissa! Get to know the American Girl of Today: Chrissa! One hour of snacks, activities and a craft. For kids grades K-6.   Bring your doll and dress-up if you like! Programs are limited to 30.

Planting Herbs
Master Gardener Karen Rendina offers a program of gardening for beginners.  Activities will include a story and a picture to draw.  And you'll plant a pot of herbs to take home so you can experiment in the kitchen!

Gardening Creativity
Master Gardener, Jean Prall, and her helpers from the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station will introduce you to gardening for beginners.  You'll go home with a pot of herbs that you can experiment with in the kitchen! The program is limited to 12 participants.

History of the Telescope: 400 Years of Discovery
Presented by Albert Carcich, Sponsored by Frame Works of Sussex
The telescope was the invention that transformed our understanding of the universe.  This presentation will take us on a journey from the 1.5 inch refracting telescope of Galileo to the 8 meter telescopes of today, including the Hubble Space telescope.  The 45 minute program will include images and handouts.  There will also be a Q and A session about amateur telescopes and the science being done at the amateur level.
For children ages 10 and up and their parents.

Cinderella III, retold
Local puppeteer Tina Berchak and Company will present a creative shadow puppet show based on the most recent Cinderella III movie, retold. Please come see Cinderella, her new friends and her fairy godmother as you've never seen them before. Children of all ages along with parents and grandparents are invited to join the fun.  Children aged 3 years and under must be accompanied by an adult.
