Sing with Me Family Music Class @ the Sussex-Wantage Branch

For children from birth through age 5 and their parent or guardian.

In each 45 minute class, adults and children, sit, dance and have fun experiencing music, rhythmic rhymes, movement activities, and instrumental jam sessions.  There will be drums of all sorts, bells, triangles, shakers, rhythm sticks, scarves, maracas, and more!

Registration is limited, and must be done separately for each session you wish to attend.  Registration begins September 12.

   

R. E. A. D. Book Club @ the Main Library

Fourth Saturday of each month at 2 PM for kids ages 8 - 11 only.

The R. E. A. D. (Reading Excites Average Days) Book Club started in the summer and it wants to keep going!  Activities, friendship, great books and of course - fun!

Hurricane Sandy Sculpture

@ the Sussex-Wantage Branch

Saturday, September 27 at 2:00 PM

Families and children of all ages, especially aspiring young artists who want to learn about working with wood, are invited to come see the award winning sculpture "Hurricane Sandy Brought to Justice in Sussex County" and learn about how it was made.  The artist, Dan Freed, will share his inspiration for the sculpture created from broken trees left behind by the storm.  He will show examples of materials that he used, many of which are touchable by little hands, as well as a range of tools and wood working techniques.  Expecially enjoyable for ages 8 and up, although all ages are welcome.

Register beginning September 13.

 

   

Bedtime Math @ 3 libraries!

Geared to preschoolers through grade 3.

Bedtime Math is a nonprofit organization that "helps kids love math like playtime or dessert."  We will be featuring their ideas in three special evening story times this fall.

Technology Club @ the Main Library

First Wednesday of each month - October 1

4 to 5:30 PM

For kids in grades 4 and up.

Each month we'll introduce you to a new software or app and let you loose to explore or play Minecraft, Wii, etc.

In October we'll start working on Scratch 2.0, a program that teaches kids simple programming and video game creating.

Bring your laptop or tablet.  Our number of laptops is limited.

No registration needed for this into meeting.

   

Markorama Games @ the Franklin Branch

Thursdays, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

from 6:00 to 7:00 PM

Join in the fun at Franklin and learn to play exciting, interactive, 3-D board games. The games Rampage and King of Tokyo will be available. Both games involve giant monsters with loud roars and special powers who are on a quest to rule your opponents and the world.

Mark and Hope Miladinovich of MarkoramaGames.com will be on hand to direct the play and help the group come up with ideas for future gaming nights.

The games are for players ages 8 and older. Please complete a separate registration for each player, noting their age, so that we may have other, age-appropriate games available.

"I Love Yoga!" @ at the Main Library

Yoga instructor, Tina Romano, will use the children's book "I Love Yoga!" by Mary Kaye Chryssicas to introduce children ages 4 -7 to the fun of yoga.  Students should bring water and a mat (if you have one.) 

Class size is limited to 12 students so PLEASE register beginning September 20.

 Newton High School student, Kyla Izquirdo has returned offering six free basic ballet lessons to kids ages 5 - 8.   There will be a mini-recital at the last class.

"Children of Eden" Musical Selections @ the Louise Childs Branch

Fun and entertainment for the entire family.

The First Presbyterian Church  of Sparta will be presenting musical excepts from their December production of "Children of Eden", written by the creators of Wicked and Les Miserable.  Part of the production features children in animal costumes for the Noah's Ark scene!
