Each month we'll introduce you to a new software or app and let you loose to explore or play Minecraft, Wii, Scratch 2.0, etc.

Bring your laptop or tablet.  Our number of laptops is limited.

Valentine Wreaths @ the Sussex-Wantage Branch

Saturday, February 7 at 10:00 AM

Join Wantage wood-crafter Sue Vanden Heuvel and create a unique wooden Valentine wreath perfect for gift-giving!  This program is open to all age 9 and older.  All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  A $2 fee will be collected at the bginning of the program for supplies.

Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week is February 8 - 14

As part of One Book / One Community, three branches will have buckets of ideas for RAKs.  Pick one up and tie it on the branches when you've performed it.  Also pick up "tags" to hand out to those you have RAKed.


 


 

DON’T BRING SOMEONE YOU NEED TO HELP YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT!

Teddy Bear Sleepover @ the Main Library

For ages 3 - grade Kindergarten

 Drop off and register your teddy bear on Monday, February 9 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM.  If you wish, you may read it a bedtime story and tuck it in before leaving. 

Come back the next day, February 10 at 6:30PM to pick up your bear and some library swag.  We’ll be serving juice and donuts and showing a slide show of the crazy things the bears did overnight.  Don’t have a bear?  Bring another stuffed animal friend.  If you are allergic to juice and donuts, please bring your own snack. 

  Registration begins January 26 and space is limited to 25 children and one bear each.

 Snow date for drop-off is February 10.  Snow date for pick-up is February 11.


 


 

 

Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The dogs never interrupt or criticize!

Read to a Dog

 Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog or Seeing Eye Puppy-in-Training.

Louise Childs Branch: Tuesday,  February 24.  Sign up for 4:00, 4:15, 4:30 or 5:00 pm.

Main Library:  Tuesday, February 10.  Sign up for:  6:00, 6:15, 6:30 or 6:45 p.m.

Franklin Branch:  Thursday, February 19.  Sign up for: 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, or 4:15 pm.

Dennis Branch:  Monday, February 23.  Sign up for:  6:00, 6:15, 6:30 or 6:45 p.m.  Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

Family Board Game Time @ the Main Library with intro to Qwirkle

Saturday, February 28 at 10:30 AM

Qwirkle is an award winning game of matching colors and shapes. The rules are simple to learn, but the strategy keeps it fun.  Other games will be available, as well.

For 2 to 4 players, ages 6 and up. We will play at least two rounds to allow for more participation.

Be a Tree Detective! @ the Sussex-Wantage Branch

Saturday, February 21 at 2:00 PM

Kids (and parents too)  learn the basics of identifying trees and large shrubs by examining bark, twigs, needles, fallen leaves, cones, and fruits.  Practice your new skills during a guided walk of the grounds behind the library.  (Weather permitting - please dress appropriately.)

Please register beginning February 7 as space is limited to 20 children and thier parents.
