Welcome to JerseyCat
JERSEYCAT INFORMATION
If you have searched the Sussex County Library catalog and cannot find what you are looking for, whether it is a specific title, or a subject area, you can search the JerseyCat catalog and request the book via Interlibrary Loan. The JerseyCat catalog includes the book collections of almost all of New Jersey's public libraries as well as many colleges, universities and schools. If a title cannot be obtained from one of the JerseyCat libraries, for a fee, the Interlibrary Loan staff will attempt to obtain the title from an out-of-state library.
JERSEYCAT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES:
Maximum of TWO requests per person will be processed at a time.
Maximum of FIVE requests per person at a time in the system. REQUESTS ENTERED WHICH EXCEED THIS LIMIT WILL BE DELETED.
Materials that cannot be requested - new materials that have been published in the last six months, fiction DVDs, videogames, and all electronic formats such as downloadable ebooks and audiobooks or electronic articles from databases.
Patrons whose records are blocked due to outstanding fines or overdue materials may not request materials.
The same title may not be requested by the same person more than three times.
Leaders of Sussex County Library Book Clubs may request multiple copies of a single title.
We CANNOT tell you how long it will take to get an item as we have no information about which lending library has the item available on the shelf.
Do not directly contact lending libraries with questions.
If your request cannot be filled by a JerseyCat participating library, you will be contacted to see if you wish to obtain the item from an out-of-state library with a $10.00 shipping charge per item.
Call the Main Library if you have any questions that have not been answered by this list of policies and procedures - 973-948-3660 x 3418.
Because many of these policies and procedures ensure our ability to retain a good working relationship with the lending libraries, failure to comply with these policies and procedures will result in interlibrary loan service being revoked.
OUT-OF-STATE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
If your request cannot be filled via JerseyCat, you will be contacted to determine if you wish to request an out-of-state InterLibrary Loan.
Staff will verify the availability of your request.
You will need to pay $10.00 for each request. You will receive a printout of your requested material with a note verifying your $10.00 per item payment. This fee is for shipping charges only.
The library will send the request to the lending library. Every attempt will be made to obtain the material from a library with no added charge.
Should the only available copy of the requested item have additional charges, you will be contacted. If you choose not to pay the additional charge, or if for some reason, the lending libraries are unable to send the material, you will be contacted by your library to arrange for the money to be reimbursed to you.
Expect an average of a three to six week delivery date.
NOTE: There is no charge for photocopy requests.
