Using My Account to Place Holds & Renew Items
Placing Holds
If the title is in a different library, or Checked Out or On Order, you can click on Place Hold and fill in your barcode and pin number, then select where you would like to pick up the copy when it becomes available. After you place the hold, click on
Renew Materials
Click on My Account in the top right corner of the catalog. Enter your barcode & PIN number. Select Checked Out. Put check marks next to titles you want to renew and click the Renew button. Be SURE and check that they have a new due date. If you renew the title after the day it is due, or in some cases, on the day it is due, it will not renew. In this case call the library and they will renew it for you unless the title is on hold for another patron.
Because you are leaving the catalog each time you Place a Hold or go to My Account to renew books, you have to re-enter your library barcode and PIN number. We realize that this is an inconvenience and have a couple of tips to make this easier to deal with.
1. If you are at a public computer and are placing multiple requests,
1. Type in your barcode, then highlight it,
2. Click Edit from the top menu, then click Copy.
3. Type in your PIN number and do your renewal or hold.
4. Then, when you place a second hold or go back in to My Account, place the cursor over the box where you enter your barcode,
5. Click Edit from the top menu, then click Paste.
2. If you are at home, or a secure computer that you use on a regular basis, you can turn on the Save Password feature. This way the barcode & PIN number will fill in automatically.
